The The, Soul Mining (1983)

Only recently I decided to work through the catalogue from The The. I got turned onto the band by its obvious hit – The Beat(en) Generation. And I still like that. Remember it from when it was released. It didn’t sound like much else that was happening around my ears at the time. And my big brother was a fan. I used to be super-curious then of anything he was into music-wise. We both liked the name The The. Thought it was funny I guess. The internet wasn’t around then so it wasn’t an annoying thing to search (in this day and age Teh Teh might be a good name for a The The tribute act though right? Just as easy to find on teh web I imagine. I’m sure someone’s thought of it and is doing it). I never had a favourite The The album at the time, I just knew a few singles. But over the years – going back about 15 or so now I guess – I’ve collected most of the band’s music and the first three albums on vinyl. All second-hand copies but in decent (workable/listenable) condition. I told you recently that I’m really digging Infected. And that’s still the case. But Soul Mining, the debut, that’s a sweet ride too you know. [Have a crack at the whole thing here if you don’t already know]
