Midnight Oil, Blue Sky Mining (1990)

Been going through a bit of a Midnight Oil phase lately; one of my all-time favourite bands. First tape I ever bought was a Midnight Oil tape. And that set me off – I collected up everything, including Blue Sky on shiny blue cassette tape on a sports trip to Australia right when the album had been released. It cost $14 for the tape. And for $3, second-hand, I bought Red Sails In The Sunset at the same store on the same day. They soundtracked the rest of my trip, alternating them…Blue Sky is the last great/necessary Midnight Oil album. And I say that as someone who would pre-order a brand new album by the band tomorrow. If there was one. This feels like the perfect palinode to the giant breakthrough that was Diesel And Dust
Sample Track: One Country
