Cream, Best of Cream (1969)
This record was a life-changer – and I never owned it. I had a long-term loan of what was left of my uncle’s record collection. He had some great stuff, metal, hard rock, blues, blues-rock, some prog and all the things that fit in the spaces in-between. And I took half a dozen seminal albums and worked through, teaching myself how to play key tracks on the drums. After school for an hour or more I’d swat at the toms trying to be Ginger Baker. I never really came close (to Ginger, I managed to get the toms). But I had a shitload of fun. And fell in love with the music along the way. I had all the Cream albums and so many other compilations of Eric Clapton stuff and other comps from the time but I had to get hold of this particular album. And one day I did. And now I have it. And all is good.
Sample Track: Swlabr
