The Vinyl Countdown # 1462

Oscar Peterson Trio, Great Connection (1971)

Great connection is right! Oscar Peterson with Nils Henning Orsted-Pedersen and Louis Hayes. Lovely. Lovely. A lot of people have asked if we named our son Oscar after Oscar Peterson (although more figure it to be after Oscar Wilde) and it’s neither. But it’s also both. Or could be. And I always loved Oscar Peterson – I had a lot of his music on cassette tape back when I was at high school. But I can’t lie, I do have a wee dry smile when I play Oscar Peterson’s music now, thinking of Oscar Sweetman too. Oscar Sweetman is not quite the pianist that Peterson was – but he gives it a bloody good go already!

Sample Track: On The Trail

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
