Don Covay & The Good Timers, Mercy! (1965)
I just bet Mick Jagger loved the shit out of this record. I know I do anyway. But I’ve had this on vinyl for years – kept it sealed and decided just this weekend to open it up and give it a hoon (I knew the album already – CD-wise). So I’ve played it a bunch this weekend – including playing out the obvious (title) tune as part of a DJ set. Nice to have this one in the crate and ready to do work now. Such a great, great album. Don Covay – such a great writer (and great singer).
