Quentin R. Bufogle is a freelance writer; blogger; novelist & contributor to Las Vegas CityLife. You can sample his work in the new Las Vegas anthology, Wish You Were Here and his book Horse Latitudes. Here are five albums he’s loving right now…
– Rolling Stones, Exile on Main Street: Although they’re officially older than dirt (and Keith Richards’ DNA has been retrieved from a Martian fossil), the Stones have gathered no moss. Still the world’s greatest garage band. Favorite tracks: All Down the Line; Tumbling Dice
– Deep Purple, Made in Japan: After listening to the architects of Heavy Metal, you’ll wanna feed all your Motley Crue albums through a wood chipper. One of the tightest live performances ever. Highway Star will melt a hole in your CD player, and Ian Gillan’s voice is simply off the frickin’ scale. Favorite tracks: Highway Star; Child in Time
– Cream, Wheels of Fire: He might’ve long overstayed his welcome, but Clapton is God (or at least he was). Here’s the proof! Favorite tracks: Crossroads; Spoonful
– The Velvet Underground, Loaded: “Standing on the corner. Suitcase in my hand. Jack is in his corset, and Jane is in her vest. And me I’m in a rock ‘n’ roll band – HA! . . . Sweet Jane! Whooooa! Sweeeet Jane!” Favorite tracks: Sweet Jane; Train Round the Bend
– Bob Dylan, Blonde on Blonde: The Bard of Greenwich Village is to rock ‘n’ roll what Whitman is to poetry. Nuff said. Favorite tracks: Just Like a Woman; Most Likely You Go Your Way (and I’ll Go Mine)
